Using Nails Instead Of A Flatpick
November 23rd, 2006
In keeping with the feast or famine nature of this blog, here’s another post so soon after the last yet so far away from the one before that!
A technique I use a lot is where I strike the lower strings with my nails as well as the fleshy tops of my fingers. In the past, I have used the flat pick but I tend to find that the volume difference between the pick and fingers is too much. As a result, I developed the idea of using my nails rather than a pick and I find that this gives a much better overall balance. One does have to pay more attention to get the notes to ring clearly while playing this way but I find that this disadvantage is more than offset by the balance I can get across the strings.
Moving on, the start page idea has been going really well so far. If you haven’t already set your words, please click here to check it out now.
