Try an Alternate Tuning On Your Guitar

A lot of people have been asking me lately about some of the guitar tones I get. A lot of the questions are about acoustic guitar tone specifically. Well, rather than try to turn this into a technique, I will give you the basic idea for now and you can develop something on your own based on that.
The first thing I would say is don’t be afraid of alternate tunings! The second is don’t be afraid to throw away the pick and use your fingers and NAILS!
I often talk to people who are trying to develop something unique in their playing. Something that is their own. In my opinion, the bast way to go about this is to look at all the options. Rather than tuning in EADGBE, using a pick and then looking to be a little original. Go back a little further than that and experiment with tunings and the way you use your fingers and nails on your right hand (or left if you’re a Southpaw).
If you’re completely new to alternate tunings then perhaps a good one to start with would be DADGAD. I have always liked the tone it gives me!
