24/96 Audio For Everyone

Add comment July 26th, 2006

The recording sessions are going very well at the moment. For the last few days I have been concentrating on acoustic guitars. As I said in an earlier post a combination of miking and D.I. Seems to be the best way to go. I am really looking forward to getting the new material out there soon.

I am recording this latest material with a release in 24/96 in mind. I will not be going down the road of DVD-Audio. Instead, I have decided to go for 24/96 DVD-V format. It will still have the quality for audiophiles but it will also have the added advantage of being accessible to anyone with a regular DVD player as well. I am very excited about the idea of opening up high resolution audio to a wider audience.

Don’t Be Blinded By The Name On A Guitar

Add comment July 25th, 2006

I hear a lot of talk about different brands of electric guitar and which ones are supposedly better. The thing is, Fender or Gibson or whoever else you might like make “Monday morning” and “Friday evening” guitars just the same as any other manufacturers.

Then there are the custom made guitars. I will admit that a higher percentage of these tend to be of good quality but I have come across some bad ones as well.

The moral of the story?

You have to play a guitar before deciding if it is any good! A good brand name will give to a better chance of getting a good instrument but that’s all. Ultimately, if it feels right and it sounds good then it is good.

I am not saying do or don’t buy a particular brand or model. I am saying play the instrument first and don’t be blinded by a name.
