Recording Acoustic Guitars
July 22nd, 2006
I know I said I probably wouldn’t update this blog everyday and here I am with my second post in a couple of hours!
Well this will probably be the nature of things, either a feast or a famine!
I just got back form a recording session. It went really well and I just wanted to post something about it. I was recording acoustic guitars. I have a always been a 110% in favour of using a mic when recording acoustic guitars. The D.I. On it’s own, even with today’s pickups tends to give a dry and brittle sound. For this session I used 2 mics and a line from the pickup into a D.I.
I got a sound I am really happy with. So while I don’t think I would ever use a line out on it’s own, I have to say it covers any of the small frequency areas not covered so well by the mics.
I just wanted to pass that little bit of info along!
