A Word On Miking Guitar amps

Hello again,
I am sorry I have not been around for a few days. I was kept busy recording. The sessions are going very well. I was recording some electric guitar this time.
Just a quick word on miking amps. I have seen some stuff written about using dynamic mics to record the sound from a guitar amp. I have to say I am a big fan of the sound this gives.
Generally, about 6 to 8 inches away from the speaker, slightly off -axis and at an angle of about 45 degrees is what I find tends to work. Of course this is only a starting point that depends on the amp, mic, room etc.
I find having that starting point speeds up the process a lot when looking for a sweet spot.
Another little trick I came across is to use another mic further away from the amp. This can capture more of the room sound and a little of a it can be mixed in at will to add a little atmosphere to the sound.
