John
Nagle Guitar Player
John's style has developed over many years and through many different
stages. He started playing music very early on via the very well worn
path of being sent to piano lessons.
His parents owned a bar and music venue. Their house was right next
door, and John would keep his bedroom window open at night and listen
to the bands when he was supposed to be sleeping. It was there that he
first became hooked on the sound of guitar.

After a few lessons, John began to develop his playing on his own. The
understanding of music theory he had from the piano, helped him as he
spent hours figuring out how to play the riffs from his favorite
records.
Soon after, and while playing in cover bands, John began to take an
interest in alternate playing techniques and tunings. Again, the
background in piano came into play as it gave him the idea to approach
the guitar from a different perspective. That of being an instrument on
which simultaneous counterpoint parts could be played rather than the
traditional approach.
The idea of using actual bass sounds on the lower strings came later as
the technology became available to make such things possible.

John has always had a strong interest in acoustic guitar as well. While
he employs many of the same playing techniques on acoustic as
he
does on electric, he does not use the bass sound technology with
acoustic. This has allowed his style on the the different instruments
to develop along similar lines but with subtle differences.
The sum of the parts is a unique playing style incorporating
traditional as well as innovative techniques on both acoustic and
electric guitar (and he sometimes still plays piano as well!).
